What's with the signature, Jen?

I'm in a bloggy, blog mood today, which is good because I'm going to be busy with a special project for the next week...Hopefully, it will be awesome, or I will be gaining at least 5 pounds by stress eating with those darn Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!!

Okay, on to the topic, Jen (I'm so awesome at pointless rambling!)...

I thought it would be a good thing to bring up my blog signature, this morning. If you haven't noticed, I've played with my signature a bit as I have been posting throughout the last couple of months.

It's a problem.

Just like the blog design was (although I think that's fixed for now, unless I get hate mail, then I will cave to peer pressure..which is also a problem.)

Anyway, here's the thing with it. If you've noticed,  the one central theme of my signature, has always been a picture of red pumps (basically, a version of Ruby Slippers). The funny thing is I don't own any and I don't think I never have.

So, why do I include them?

Well, they kind of have a little tie in with the title of the blog. You see the whole point of naming the blog The Yellow Brick Cottage certainly wasn't because it was a cottage. (If you read the "About" page, you already know this. If you haven't....I forgive you.)

The name came actually came from the movie the Wizard of Oz (which I don't really even like...Those flying monkeys really creep me out!) However, we all know that Dorothy traveled the Yellow Brick Road in order to get home, which was bumpy and full of challenges (kind of like our life was before we found this home.) At the end though, she found that the Ruby Slippers that she was wearing were the key for her to find her way home (By the way, is anybody else annoyed that Glinda the Good Witch waited the entire movie to tell her this?).

Anyway, I guess I feel that the Red Slippers are a part of me in some ways, a parallel to my own journey home. Figuratively, I guess that I've been wearing them the whole time. Even when I thought that nothing could be worse, our brick road has, in the end, been worth it. The lessons we have learned are invaluable and all we have to do is continue on the path to take us home.

So, that's pretty much it. More information that you probably didn't need to know :)
